This presentation will provide the teacher with the necessary tools to teach a business advocacy program as part of your curriculum. Advocacy is not just about voting. Give your students the knowledge and skills to effectively participate in protecting their future by understanding their existing scope of practice, statutes, rules and regulations. We’ll identify what skills need to be employed to raise standards and be an advocate for their profession and career.
Susanne S. Warfield, is President/CEO of Paramedical Consultants, Inc.–a consulting, publishing and association management firm. Warfield is a 32-year esthetician, is NCEA Certified, holds both CIDESCO and ITEC diplomas and worked for over 13 years in a dermatology practice in New York city. She has authored over 425 articles, 15 books for the consumer, medical and skin care sectors. |

In this interactive workshop teachers will learn about work readiness skills, importance of business and industry support, state/federal educational standards, and advisory committees. Understanding business and industry trends and the demand of our students will help to get their career started. Teachers will learn how integrating Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) will assist in preparing students for the Real World of Work.
Sherry D. Davis, Ed.D., Education Programs Consultant at the California Department of Education. Dr. Davis has been in the industry for over 30 years, as a cosmetologist, instructor, NCEA Certified and Master Esthetician. Career Technical Education is a passion for Dr. Davis who was an associate professor for the over 15 years in California and Texas. She also served as the NETT News Editor for three years showing her passion for the industry. |

SOCIAL MEDIA IN THE CLASSROOM |

This session will provide an overview of social media and how using email communication can build your school’s online profile and presence. We’ll also discuss ways to build student and alumni interaction, and continue branding long after they graduate. We’ll provide you with practical ideas you can use immediately to start managing your time and activity. Teachers will leave with real-world insights and knowledge that they can put to work immediately.

Paul has been a beauty industry professional for more than ten years with certification in different teaching methodologies. |

HOW TO MODERNIZE YOUR SCHOOL’S CURRICULUM |

This presentation will provide the teacher with the knowledge to effectively demonstrate various pieces of equipment. An essential part of the esthetics curriculum is comprehension of ‘indications for use’ and the ‘intended use’ of each device. The integration of effective protocols across multiple indications and devices will better prepare your students for today’s salon, spa or medical settings.
Susanne Schmaling is the Director of Education for Associated Skin Care Professionals. A licensed esthetician and experienced instructor with over 15 years’ experience, her career has included all aspects of esthetics, spa body therapies, makeup, and nail technology, as well as spa ownership and consulting. She authored, “The Comprehensive Guide to Equipment”, “Aging Skin” and contributed to Milady’s Professional Makeup-Aging Skin. |
